FRIENDS OF FAMILY SUPPORT

Family Friends offers support, friendship and practical help to families facing difficulties in our local community.

FRIENDS OF FAMILY SUPPORT offers a unique service, recruiting and training volunteers who are usually parents themselves, to visit families at home who have at least one child pre natal to 14 years old to offer informal, friendly and confidential support.

Alongside this support in the home we also run support groups for families on a variety of issues such as supporting families with disabled children, School holiday Fun Club,  ESOL sessions, confidence building and domestic abuse support.

Through a network of trained and DBS checked volunteers who are parents or have relevant experience, we support hundreds of parents and children who
are experiencing difficulties of one kind or another. Our families need support for many reasons including social isolation, post-natal depression, disability, bereavement or the illness of a parent or child.

What do we offer?

We offer support through our network of fully trained and police-checked volunteers and family support workers. These volunteers have usually been parents, or understand the difficulties that families often go through. The volunteer will normally visit you once a week for two-four hours, and will spend time listening and talking to you, provide respite for you, tap into community activities or whatever support you need. Unfortunately volunteers cannot provide babysitting, but are happy to support you in other ways.
